Impact of archeology in the world, in general and in personal.

If we think of any way that archeology could affect the world, probably the direct answer is that is thanks to the archeology that we know the history of the civilizations that were not able to let their legacy and story written. Archeology builds up the story of the world, and as we know, the people who doesn't know about their past are condemned to make the same mistakes as their ancesters. An archeologyst helps by finding and investigating trails from the past so they can be put in the global history to fill gaps, deny or confirm theories, etc.

Maybe a more personal impact could be the fact that an archeologyst will not always find objects from the ancient times. While doing an excavation it could be found something that you may feel in the obligation to return, like a bag with the personal belongings of someone who got robbed 40 years ago, and theres still objects from the 80's. Searching and finding the legitimate owner it's not something that will change the world, but you would feel like you already returned someone a piece of their past.

My future studies master plan

So when i signed up for this career, i was thinking in only one thing: Archeology, and more specifically, Conflict Archeology (its a sub branch from archeology and its mostly oriented to the study of weapons, strategies, and stories involved in the war, going from the medieval scenarios to WWII, basically any place that was once a battlefield). Thats like my dream plan right now, im planning in save up some money that i will magically earn thanks to the career that im studying right now and go to europe to continue the study of conflict archeology, there is just so much that i would want to see of those battlefields. BUT, if i have the option of bringing here the methodological knowledge, i'll do it without a doubt.

But there's a detail: i also want to study gastronomy inmediately after i finish archeology here in chile (i know, i know, i have some serious vocational issues, but the heck with it cause you only live once) So the plan is that once i finish those 2 careers, i will have to save up some money and hopefully, (if im not dead from starving by that moment) go and study my dream - career. Wish me luck cause im actually relliyng in the fact that i will be able to go through everything while im saving money. But, hey, i'll be actually happy if manage to make it.

An actor i like

Willard Smith, also known as Will Smith, is an actor who inicially started as a raper and is currently one of the most popular actors of the US cinema. He was born the 25th of september of 1968 and is still an active actor today.

The first movie i saw from Will Smith was men in black. I rememeber it was really funny, specially the final battle scene. But thats just one of will's movies, he also worked in Independence day, Shark tale (in hispanoamerica: El espanta tiburones), bad boys 1, 2 and 3, wild wild west, the two secuels of men in black and many others.

What i like about him, is that he can be a funny character (like in men in black) or a really serious character (like in after earth), his acting skills allows him to be any character the movie needs, and his acting will be great in any of them.

The good ol' days without covid

Hello there, for today's blog i selected this picture of mine. It's the queen's street, in stockholm. I took this picture in 2017 there in Sweden, and it shows some people walking in the street near the sunset, i remember i was so happy because we where just doing our tourist things, the street was all noisy with a lot of people chillin in the cafes and other people buying souvenirs...but when night came, i was almost feezing to death XD. Sweden autumn, dont even think in the winter.

I like this photo because it reminds me of the times when we where able to travel and see new places, unlike now with all of this covid outbreak and countries in quarentine. I really hope we make it through this pandemic soon, so we all can get out of our homes and see some of the outside world again.

My favourite piece of technology

If i had to choose my favourite piece of technology, i would probably say that it's my laptop. I earned my first laptop when i was 12 years old, thanks to a government program named “yo elijo my pc”. My mom wanted to give me a gift when i ended my studies in the school, so she gave me my actual laptop. It’s my favourite piece of technology because it’s extremely versatile, i can save my photos there, speak and play with my Friends, watch movies and anime, and it really came in Handy when the online classes started. Plus, its a mobile piece of technology, so i can take it with me when i go to visit my father. Nowadays i have to use it everyday because of the online classes, and i think i would really be in trouble without it, because a mobile pone is not that confortable for making the university asignments in my opinion.

Why did i chosed this career

Hello there.

As a child i never really knew what i wanted to be once i grow up, actually, when the last year of school came i was still just as lost as i was years ago, so i started thinking of what i liked to do in my free time. I liked to go to the countryside and explore, getting as far from people as posible and wonder if maybe someone was  there before me years ago. I also like to cook and to play videogames. So, the options where there: cook? Gastronomy. Videogames? videogames design. Finally, a career where i could explore in the nature? Maybe geology or archeology. I finally decided for archeology, cause i could eventually learn to cook at home, and the videogames for me are really a hobby, not something i would get into for living. Geology was interesting, but i was more interested in exploring places where i could find signs of human life rather tan rocks and minerals.

My experience at university until now has been…technological…i actually cant say much about it because i dont even know my classmates. Pretty sad this covid outbreak came out the same year i entered the career. I just expect that in the future i Will be able to do my work while sitting next to a camping tent, stars in the sky above and in my hands an ancient object to describe in my notebook. (pretty romantic point of view of archeology, i know, but “the one who Works in what he loves Will not work a single day” right?).

Hi there, Im vicente valdés. I was born in santiago but i moved on to victoria when i was like 6 years old and, although when i finished my school i was supossed to get back to santiago to course this career (antropology), due to the covid i have to stay here in this little town in the Araucanía region.

I love cats, i have 3 here and 1 more in my dad's house in the countryside. I also like taking pictures but i don't have the slightlest idea on how to edit them lol, anyway im trying my best to learn. Heres one of my photos, i even posted it on instagram cause i liked it and you know, why not.

As an extra: There was also one picture wich i took back in the day and i was like "wow, if i could just edit this and change it to black and white, it would look nice in a t-shirt" and guess what. While i was playing with a photo editor, i actually got to make it and it's now in a training t-shirt of mine :D

If you want to know more, i also like rock and rap music, anime, videogames, doing some exercise, and with my mom we are currently running a little pyme of cocktails named "canapés Victoria".
